April 2013 - Tuesday 16th - Forkinas Theatre Group have added an extra date to their Three-penny Opera run. This coming Saturday, due to popular demand, the company will put on another performance. The Ithaki audiences have been thrilled by this work and want more, more more.
The weather is fine, the sun is shining and the skies are almost completely blue. Spring is definitely engaging our senses with the wonderful aromas of blooming flowers all over the mountain sides and valleys.
Perahori views. Perahori may not be on the seaside, but it has some of the biggest and best views on the island.
Ester van Zuylen and Klara Koitler, Artists residing on Ithaki, have been giving art lessons to some of the children in the north of the island. The fruits of their efforts will be displayed at the Stavros town Center on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th of April. Times are 10am - 2pm and again 6pm to 9pm each day. Get along and see some of the virant works of Ithaki's young. You'll be delighted.
Wednesday 17th - Beautiful Spring days.

Such beautiful days, more than a little spoiled by the rubbish collection strike going on around the island at present. I hope someone gets some money soon as I can only see the smell getting worse.

Poseidon, still ruling our seas. Luckily he's in a good mood and keeping them calm.
Thursday 18th - Another wonderful day today. Spring is so liberating after a wet winter.
Seems like Penelope restaurant WILL be opening again this year. I haven't asked by whom yet, but the chairs are out and newly painted, so Frikes bayside will surely be enhanced by this previously popular restaurant up and running for this coming season.
Friday 19th - A cooler breeze blowing today, but still quite mild and mostly sunny. Each day more and more people showing up in the streets. Already quite a few visitors around, all enjoying some perfect Spring weather.
Still some burning off going on around the island, so don't be alarmed if you see smoke.
Left - - Forkis, Ithaki Theatre Group is putting on one more performance of Three-Penny Opera tomorrow, Saturday 20th April, at the Cultural Center in Vathy due to popular demand. Performance starts 21.00 hrs, so don't be late to secure a good seat. Entrance - 10 euro.
Saturday 20th - A little grey today, but the temperature is still quite mild. Looks like we could have some rain this afternoon, but at this time of year, we can't really be sure.
Went to Vathy late yesterday so waited around for dusk to take some photos. Vathy is always so beautiful with that gold-pink light falling across the bay, and of course when the lights come on, they reflect so nicely in the water, you just can't walk by without clicking away.
May Day celebrations at Vigla, usually held on May 1,(a pagan ritual) has been brought forward to tomorrow so as not to mingle too closely with BIG week of Easter (orthodox ritual).
Let's hope it's not raining, it would make for a muddy hike up the mountain.
