Springtime on Ithaca is really special as all of you who come during this season will attest to. Days will soon be fining up permanently and wild flowers will blanket the island from end to end.
A protest meeting was held in the Vathy cinema on Friday evening to discuss hydrocarbon drilling in the Ionian. Speakers of the Group were Stefanos Stouraitis, the leader of the WWF Ionian mining campaign, Dimitris Ibrahim and member of the same organization Olivier Vardakoulias, Anna-Maria Renner and Stavros Antypas, Greenpeace. Tuesday 19th - Beautiful Spring views with warm light and sunshine once again in our daily lives.
Saturday 23rd - Below - In an effort to save thousands of lives Ithaca has given way to an eyesore over beauty by attaching mesh to the rock faces along the road from Stavros to Vathy. This isn't just happening on Ithaca so I guess there is a general initiative out on safety across Greece or a manufacturer of mesh has an insider in the government. I wonder when they'll decide to block the view to the sea for fear someone may walk off the road and drop off the mountain.
Meanwhile the weather is warming up on Ithaca with more sunshine and blue skies as we head nearer to April and then Easter and then onto another Summer Season.
Tuesday 26th - Yesterday Ithaca and Greece in general celebrated Greek Independence from the Ottoman Empire with parades in Stavros and Vathy. Click Here or on photograph below for a snapshot of the day.
Saturday 30th - We're loving the blue skies again. We're loving the wild flowers and we're loving the lush green hills and valleys of Ithaca Greece. The ferries have had a couple of days not running due to very windy weather, but that will clear too now.
Tonight at 8.30pm, Greece joins Earth Hour by turning off the lights, including those around the Acropolis, to highlight our fragile environment and sending a message that we care.

Tuesday 26th - The weather and Ithaca's social calendar are warming up again as we head for the 2019 Summer Season.
