It appears the Ionian Pelagos ferry which services Ithaki, Kefalonia and Astokos, is having some mechanical problems. It didn't run today and after ringing the Port Authority, news is that it's uncertain if it will run tomorrow.
April 2015 - Friday 17th - It's Spring. No need to say more.
Sunday 19th - The weather has been amazing the past couple of weeks. It doesn't look like rain again, but one never knows.
Forkys Theatre group are getting ready to put on their annual performance at the Cultural Center in Vathy. This year it's DIARY OF A crook " by Alexander Ostrofsky and Directed by Stelio Sofou. Head along on 24, 25, 26 and 27th April at 9pm to catch some of Ithaki's most talented performing for Ithaca.
The season has begun. Yachts are coming in again and life on the baysides is beginning to pick up, especially noticeable in the north of the island, which in winter, is quiet and mostly forlorn.
Spring is a time to get in with nature and that's exactly what locals and the few visitors to the island are doing. Walking around the island is an excellent way to experience it.
Tuesday 21st - A little Spring rain and then a windy day cleared the atmosphere for more blue skies and sunshine. The weather can be a little deceptive however, it can still get quite chilly, especially mornings and nights.
In Vathy today, I was expecting some activity, but it was very, very quiet. Not even alot of locals in the streets. Maybe 2 yachts in the harbour and just a couple of people with accents not akin to Ithaki.
