October 2013 - Wednesday 9th - There's no denying it. It's been a miserable few days with lots of rain, wind and very, very grey skies. Late in the afternoon, the sun did try to come out for a bit, but it was soon knocked off it's position by another wave of looming cloud cover.
Left - Polis Bay and Beach. Far from the summer buzz. The umbrellas are gone, the cantina is closed, even the fisherman were absent today. Just me, the camera and a couple walking along the beach.
Left - Fishing off the pier is a popular past-time. Yes, he's casting a line, not a spell.
Friday 11th - The cold spell seems to have broken a little with much milder temps yesterday and today, the mercury is going up even more.
Late Wednesday and early Thursday, a massive storm passed over us. It went for hours and hours with lightning that spiked out across the sky and a fair amount of rain. The forecast over the next couple of days is for temps in the high 20's.

Noises about the Eptanisos ferry taking over the Ithaca to Patras route are abound again. I just wish that the route would be agreed to so we can all travel in a manner to which our euros spent on the tickets would warrant. The Ionian ferries co have been a necessary stop gap, but it's ferries aren't so great and very small.

Saturday 12th - What a muggy couple of days. The weather sticks to you like a blanket, reminiscent of Asia, not Greece. A few days earlier it was so cold, we were suddenly tossed into winter, now it's balmy and hot.
Yesterday was so still, especially in the south of the island, that all the spent fuel just hung around in the air. Today, it's clearer, but very high humidity. The sun was out for the morning, but just after lunch, it disappeared again, behind cloudy skies.
One minute the sun was out, then it was back to the clouds, all the while, a oppressive heat.
Today seems to be the end of the holiday company holidays. Last day of organized tourism, apart from the yachts, I believe they'll be coming in until around the end of October.
