Sat 6 Aug - No one would disagree that yesterday was a miserablly windy day. If there was any inclination to spend it at the beach, the wind would have put a quick end to any contemplation of it, so the boys lined up the Svinakia, and made themselves cosey at Bemenis Bar in Frikes. |

Above - Bemeni himself. He put on some of his favourite music and has a little dance behind the bar, not on the bar, while he made the drinks for the windswept crew sitting outside.
Right - Ektora, waiter and local boy, got busy with an afternoon rush that will be quite common from here on. As most Ithacans, Ektora is'waterwise' and emptied the half drunken bottles of water, into the pot plants just in case it didn't rain, as predicted by the weather bureau. As Panighiri hour neared, no one knew quite what to make of the blackening sky. |

The Stavros Panighiri is the 'Big One'. It's a time when many people have come to the island, and as usual, the party was destined to last til the early hours of the morning. In order to go the distance, an evening nap was imperative for all who managed to see the dawn...and then? Another night of Festivities. Ag. Sortiros, is the 2 Day Festival in Stavros, Ithaca. |

Mon 9 Aug - Above Setting up house at the side of the road. Hope these people have a PortoLoo. Hope they dispose of their PortoLoos contents in an appropriate way. Can't believe they wouldn't know that camping at the roadside is illegal. |

Above - I love a sunburnt country a land of... The lush green of Ithaca has wilted in the heat over the past weeks and as last weeks' fire, lit by a tossed cigarette, reminded us all just how flammable the island is, another warning that there is a high fire risk in Summer on Ithaca. |

Above - Running out of water is a soluble problem these days in Frikes, with Gerasimos from the Frikes Petrol Station delivering water to the community as well as fuel to the yachts. |

Weather fining up again after a few days of cloud and cooler temps. On the mainland there were floods, but here on Ithaca, only a few drops of rain fell in Platrithia. Yesterday the streets looked a bit empty for August. |
